The Razer Nabu will be the world’s first smartband to be fully integrated with Tencent’s messaging platform WeChat.
It will do everything a smartwatch and fitness band does, with social capabilities on an open platform. The wristband will be easily integrated to WeChat so you will be able to check your notifications easily: no more constant looking at your phone to see who is writing you. It will also have Tinder-like capabilities that allow users to exchange contact details via a high-five or handshake, or just by being within range.
Integrating WeChat is a very interesting move, particularly in China where the service is ubiquitously used (400 million daily active users) and is even becoming a platform for developers who seek to super-charge their apps.
The company hasn’t announced the official price yet, but expects to ship millions of units at under $100 each. It will be made available in China in Q4 2014.
